Psychiatric Technician

Hours: Full-time Position (Must be available evenings and weekends)

Compensation: $16 - $20 an hour; $200 a month paid towards healthcare (benefits not provided); 4 days PTO

Qualification Requirements:


• Psychiatric Technician must have the minimum of twelve (12) continuous months of experience within the last three (3) years performing services in a public or private mental health institution.
• Must be able to pass FBI & DOJ background check (Live Scan)
• Annual health screening and TB test
• Duties to include but not limited to providing medication support to clients, assist direct care staff in directing clients in daily living skills, support the clinical team in developing plan of cares.
• We do not exclude internship from required experience.
• To provide an array of quality services to assist clients in reaching their optimum level of functioning and improve their quality of life.
• Accuracy in communications is critical to ensure timely and correct care is provided; our mental health Psychiatric Technician must be proficient in the English language and be able to speak, write, and understand oral and written English communication. 

Minimum Qualifications:


• 1 year experience as a PT years working mental illness
• 1 year experience in psychiatric screening, medication training and education, managing and administering prescribed medications (especially psychiatric medications)
• Knowledge of behavior modification approaches
• Must be able to work independently, use good judgment, and remain calm in a crisis
• California State LPT license that is in good standing and up to date
• Current First Aid, Physical, and TB Test will be required
• Ability to pass an FBI and DOJ background check
• Must be able to work various shifts any day (this will not change) are shifts for this position may range between 8am to 9pm. (Weekdays, evenings, and Weekends)
• Participate in team and facility staff meetings.

Delivery of Service Requirements:


• Give a basic level of general behavioral and psychiatric care to mentally disabled clients;
• Conduct daily clinical monitoring of clients with signs and symptoms of mental illness; Work with Program Director, Psychologist, Psychiatrist in developing objectives from assessments in providing an overall plan of care for clients;
• Assist in conducting group sessions and activities on and offsite;
• Observe clients physical condition (including weight records) and behavior, and report significant changes;
• Observe clients’ behavior, listen to their concerns, and record their condition;
• Lead clients in therapeutic and recreational activities;
• Ensure medical and psychiatric medications are given according to doctors instructions;
• Certify accuracy of daily medication are initial and weekly medication inventory;
• Follow and adhere to all medication policies;
• Provide medication education to family member of clients for overnight stays and day passes;
• Assist with admitting and discharging clients;
• Monitor clients’ activities of daily living, eating, hygiene and redirect as needed;
• Restrain clients who may become physically aggressive;
• Prepare and coordinate clinical appointment dates and times, and assist in having patients present at their clinical appointments;
• Assist and escort client’s to medical and lab appointments as needed;
• Monitor and assist in maintaining drug and alcohol screening results; Complete lab request as ordered by Psychiatrist or Medical Physicians.
