Resident Assistant

Hours:                    Full-time Positions Available (30 - 40 hours a week)

                             Part-time Positions Available (20 – 28 hours a week)

                             Must be available Nights, Weekends, and Overnights

 

Compensation: $11.00 an hour + 4 days PTO 

Position:

 

To provide support to Adult Male residents with Mental Health Disabilities while maintaining a reasonably safe and secure environment for all employees, physicians, patients, visitors, and contractors/vendors on the facility property and conduct facility residential duties.  

 Qualifications: 

  

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in a non-defensive manner directly with patients is required. 

  • Must be able to pass FBI & DOJ background check (Live Scan)

  • Annual health screening and TB test

  • Able to communicate in oral and written form in English, required

  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job (assisting with patient restraint, light to heavy lifting and/or pushing of patients or equipment), required.

  • Minimum of one-year experience working in a State Hospital preferred.

  • Previous experience working with mental health patients preferred.

Duties:

  • Assists residents by explaining the need for and value of services; accompanies and supports patients in performing Activities of Daily Living.

  • Observes and reports verbally and in writing to professional staff the behavior and physical state of residents; documents hourly observations of residents and activity with residents in medical charts.

  • Encourage participation, oversee in Group Activities, and provide help with coping skills and communication skills as well as crisis resolution assistance.

  • Providing direct eyesight or arm's length monitoring.

  • Assist in de-escalation of patients and redirection as needed to help maintain a safe environment.

  • Assists with admissions, orientation, meals, and inventory of belongings and personal effects and discharge processing.

  • Assist with meals preparation: Pick up, delivery and service.  Obtain and record food and refrigerator temperatures as outlined by policy and procedure

  • Assist in maintaining residents personal hygiene rules are adhered

  • Assist the residents that grooming and dressing rules are adhered

  • Monitor, manage and log medication given to residents

  • Manage all documentation regarding medication being maintained at the facility

  • Perform general facility cleaning and sanitation according to facility sanitation policies:

a)    Sweeping and mopping floors

b)    Washing walls

c)    Making beds

d)    Vacuuming

e)    Washing Dishes

f)     Dusting

g)    Cleaning Bathrooms and toilets

h)   Laundry

 Perform/Assist residents in regular cleaning of their personal living space

  • Monitor and assist residents in cleaning smoking areas

  • Provide any cooking and kitchen assigned duties

  • Provide cleaning of kitchen and dining areas

  • Provide daily washing of residents clothing and linen

  • Monitor residents social behavior and physical needs and provide daily reports to attending management

  • Daily Charting: Medication Records; Observation Notes; In/Outdoor Activities; Medication Records

  • Monitor and maintain social interaction between residents

  • Maintain daily sign-in/out resident log sheet and other daily records

  • Supervise visitors on the premises

  • Duties are added as needed
